Dear Pacific Ridge Community,
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the Assistant Principal of Pacific Ridge Elementary School. With over 15 years of experience in education, I firmly believe in the Seaside School District’s (SSD) core values which include an equitable, safe learning environment, engaging well-rounded education, and a focus on collective wellness and community partnerships. I know that by working together we can make sure every child’s academic, social, and emotional needs are met. That is my commitment to our shared students, colleagues, and the community.
Most recently, I served as the Director of Special Programs for the SSD. The time I spent serving in that position were some of the most inspiring and rewarding educational experiences I have had. I learned so much watching incredible students being supported by committed teachers, both continue to encourage me to do my best work every day. In the role of director, my leadership responsibilities included facilitating RtI and FBA/BIP trainings, helping to manage the district behavioral support system, guiding staff members through the development of school-wide PBIS initiatives, conducting observations and evaluations of teachers, and coordinating professional development to help improve overall instruction in the classroom. Prior to Seaside, I worked as a Special Education teacher with the Neah-Kah-Nie and Tillamook School District for 12 years. As a classroom teacher, I collaborated closely with my colleagues to develop a standards-based curriculum, implement best practice learning opportunities, and created a classroom environment that supported the needs of all students.
As I continue on my path of service with a strong background in Special Education, Trauma-Informed Care, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports), and Response to Intervention, I am fully committed to supporting Pacific Ridges inclusive environment, while preparing our students to be global citizens.
My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon, a Master of Science in Special Education from Pacific University, and a Certificate of Administrative Licensure from Portland State University. I am a proud community member of Seaside, Oregon, and spend my free time enjoying all the activities the North Coast has to offer. You can often find me surfing, fishing, and mountain biking with my incredible wife and two amazing children. I am eternally grateful to live, work, and play in this wonderful part of the world and wouldn’t want to be anyplace else.
I look forward to connecting with you throughout the year.
