Where did you go to school?
I got my elementary ed degree at Lewis-Clark State College.  I went back for my MEd in Creative Arts in Learning through Lesley University.

How long have you been teaching and what grade level?
I have been teaching for 25 years.  Yes, 25 years!  I have taught everything from preschool through sixth grade and spent some time as a reading specialist as well.

What's your favorite subject to teach?
That's a hard one.  I really love teaching writing to beginning writers.  I also love teaching math and social studies to older students.  Teaching reading and connecting readers with books they love is also one of my favorite things to do.

What was your favorite subject when you were in school?
I really liked math, especially Algebra.  It's like a puzzle!

Who was your favorite teacher & why? or What made you want to become a teacher?
Mr Sauer, my sixth grade reading teacher, was one of my favorite teachers of all time.  He was passionate about books:  reading them, recommending them, connecting them with the right readers.  We spent almost the whole period every day reading books we selected ourselves.  I read almost 100 books that year!

Favorite hobby?
I think my favorite hobby might be trying new hobbies.  I like to try new things, but don't always like to do them over and over for long periods of time.  Things I do enjoy doing over time, though, are reading, gardening, and interior decorating.

Favorite book?
Ooh, I don't know if I could ever answer that question.  It's usually whatever book I'm reading at the time!

Favorite coffee drink?
I don't drink a lot of coffee, usually only one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening.  If I go out for coffee, it's usually just an Americano with cream.  Sometimes when it's warm I enjoy a vanilla sweet cream cold brew.
