I have been teaching second grade at Gearhart Elementary since 2012. I feel honored to be a teacher for the Seaside School District and am excited to continue teaching at Pacific Ridge Elementary. My appreciation for my fellow educators and our community grows more and more each year. This is truly a special place with wonderful students and families as well as a tremendously supportive and creative staff.
I was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. In high school I enjoyed sideline and competitive cheerleading as well as playing the flute in band. In 2006 I moved to Seaside, where I met my husband, James, at Clatsop Community College. After graduating from Clatsop, we moved to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon, where I earned a B.S. in Education Foundations, a B.A. in Spanish, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching. Go Ducks! In 2015 our school district sent me to Querétaro, Mexico to continue learning Spanish. I am so grateful they gave me an opportunity to be immersed in another culture and to grow in my Spanish speaking skills. I love to learn, and math is my favorite subject. So in 2017 I participated in Project DEMILO at Western Oregon University to gain an endorsement in Elementary Math Leadership.
I really enjoy the outdoors. Some of my favorite hobbies outside are bike rides, fishing, hiking, camping, and having bonfires on the beach. During the rainy season I enjoy curling up with a book next to the fireplace, playing board games, watching college football, movie marathons, and baking.
